About the Editor

Valerie Nye currently serves as the Library Director at Santa Fe Community College and recently worked as the Library Director at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has worked in archives, special libraries, and academic libraries for more than 20 years and has been presenting and writing about intellectual freedom issues in libraries for 15 years. Nye co-edited the book True Stories of Censorship Battles in America’s Libraries with Kathy Barco. The book was published by American Library Association Editions in 2012. She has volunteered as a blogger on intellectual freedom issues and privacy for the Office of Intellectual Freedom and has worked with the office's Intellectual Freedom Working Group to review the Intellectual Freedom Manual for updates. She recently served on the Freedom to Read Foundation Executive Board and was Chair of the Krug Education Committee. Nye holds a BA in English from Cornell College and a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
